For me, writing poetry is pure pleasure. I love playing with the words until I find exactly the right ones to make the rhythm, form, tone and feeling all come together to work as a whole. Several of my poems, like the ones below, have been published in the School Magazine.

In 2011, thanks to the Todd New Writer's Bursary, I was able to devote a large amount of my time to writing children's poems. I enjoyed every moment.

Excitingly, seven of my poems have been selected for A Treasury of NZ Children's Poetry, edited by the wonderful Paula Green and illustrated by Jenny Cooper. Published by Random House NZ, the book includes around 200 poems from NZ poets and 20 from school children.

Here are some poems of mine from the Treasury.
• Snorkelling
• Waxing and Waning
• Gumboot weather
• Empty Hutch
• My kind of Day
• Words
• Ghost Bride
